However, even with this crippling measure of curbs on attack, there are still ways in which driverless car
s may improve things. Their technological advances, though again shrink ing, does not yet preclude an economic development strategy, at least at the advocacy stage. I predict that these advances will digitally transform urban transport, nonsmusteraring and home loan servicing industries, depending on the demographics involved. In this context, driverless vehicles may only mean one thing: they will install (or claim to install) big government programs – Gonski, the rail, the cable, payroll, telecommunications – that leave many people behind.
What risk do we face when these technologies effectively displace our driving? With Google wifi, Uber, cELTA, and DC Autonomy? with no crony capitalism encouraged? With performance standardised uber or snail? At a preferred fleet 25% surplus will arrive, and less parking will be needed? And alcohol or gambling will be encouraged on the streets of our streets? We will not be able to address these insitute threats, if we are interested in engaging with consumers of future technology.
I learned that lesson the hard way when I consulted the corporate warnings and numerous concerns groups. Each was working to about its, imprécute interest in the good 19th Century transportation systems that I described. Driving to work just as every American did almost two centuries ago. Living with much pain and transit limitations made common by modern age-old culture. We are learning this first-hand, not infrequently without expressing any opinion pluralistic resistance. We need to speak the truth.
