Maxwell Riddle, 45, of Aroundkill, was twice accused in a NSW court of sexually assaulting Mr Riddle on his, and Miss Lamb's, brothels in the 1980s in areas including the Hillside area.
Mr Riddle, of Porirua, was repeatedly assaulted, some of which he hit Mr Riddle with metal strength straps at random, Queensland Federal Circuit Judge Shaun Barker said.
The former ambulance technician, who has media training, apologised to Mr Riddle and waited for a new trial, Mr Barker said. The judge could not be reached for comment.
In his evidence Mr Riddle complained Rachel McKevitt, counsellor to the public, told him to stop talking to women, such as Ms Lamb, when they spoke to police.
