PetrolBuddy Support & FAQ

How does PetrolBuddy find the cheapest petrol prices?

PetrolBuddy uses a combination of official government data feeds (like FuelCheck in NSW or FuelWatch in WA) and community-sourced updates. We scan thousands of servos across Australia to bring you real-time pricing so you can find the best deal for your car or ute before you leave home.

How often are the petrol prices updated?

Most prices are updated every 15 to 30 minutes. In states with mandatory reporting, the data is near-instant. In other areas, we rely on our dedicated community of legends to verify the price at their local servo. If you see a price that looks a bit old, check the "last updated" timestamp next to the c/L figure.

How can I report or verify a price at a servo?

If you're at a servo and notice the price on the board is different from what PetrolBuddy shows, you can help the community by updating it! Simply click on the specific servo on our map or list, and select the "Update Price" button. Enter the current c/L for the relevant petrol type and hit submit. Your contribution helps every other Aussie driver save a few bob.

Does PetrolBuddy have a mobile app?

PetrolBuddy is a web-only platform designed for your browser. If you want to take our petrol-finding power on the road with a dedicated mobile experience, you should download the FuelRadar app. FuelRadar is our sister product and uses the same high-quality data engine as PetrolBuddy, optimised specifically for your smartphone.

How do I set up petrol price alerts?

To get notified when prices drop in your suburb, log in to your PetrolBuddy account and navigate to "Alerts". You can set a target price (in c/L) for your preferred petrol type at your favourite servos. We will send you an email notification as soon as a price meeting your criteria is detected.

What are PetrolBuddy "Price Predictions"?

Petrol prices in Australian capital cities often follow a "price cycle". Our clever algorithms analyse historical data to predict whether prices are likely to rise or fall in the coming days. If the PetrolBuddy gauge says "Wait", it’s usually worth holding off for a day or two. If it says "Fill Up", it’s time to head to the servo!

Why are some servos missing from the map?

We aim to include every servo in Australia, from the big cities to the outback. If your local is missing, it might be a brand-new site or a small independent that hasn't been added to our database yet. You can suggest a new servo by emailing our support team with the address and brand details.

How do I manage my PetrolBuddy account?

Once logged in, click on the profile icon in the top right corner of the website. From there, you can update your preferred petrol type (e.g., E10, Unleaded 91, or Premium 98), change your primary location, and manage your email subscription settings.

Are there any premium or paid features?

The core features of PetrolBuddy—searching for prices, viewing maps, and checking predictions—are completely free for all Australians. We may offer advanced analytics or ad-free experiences in the future, but helping you find cheap petrol will always be our main priority.

What should I do if the price at the pump is higher than the site says?

While we strive for 100% accuracy, occasionally a servo might change their price before our data feed refreshes. Always check the price on the servo's board before you start pumping. If there is a discrepancy, please use the "Update Price" feature on PetrolBuddy to alert other users.

How do I delete my PetrolBuddy account?

We’re sorry to see you go! If you wish to close your account and have your data removed from our system, you can do so through the "Privacy" section of your account settings. Alternatively, you can send an email to our support team with your account details, and we will process the deletion for you.
